Hello!! My name is Jenice Ma, and I am so psyched to be a Flashed athlete. I am currently in medical school at the University of Alberta (MD) looking to specialize in anesthesiology. Outside of school, I am an active member of the climbing community, particularly in regard to advocating for gender equality and accessibility in the sport.
I have been climbing for 4 years (nationally competitively for 2, internationally for 1) and my climbing accomplishments include:
1. Top 15 at the Canadian High Performance Competitions 2. Top 25 at Bouldering and Lead Nationals
3. Finals in AB provincials
4. Outdoor highest grades of V11 and 5.13
I just finished up my second year of medical school and have decided to take a year off before clerkship (year 3 of medical school) to pursue climbing at an elite level, with big goals at the international level, as well as outdoors. My favorite Flashed product is the Big Squishy because I fall a heck of a lot and it’s always there to catch me!
